“I tried to lead by example, to be vocal, to show how to work hard and how to respect our coach.”īrady’s senior season slash line boasted a dazzling. “It was definitely a group effort, especially with so many underclassmen this year,” Brady said. “They gave me inspiration and showed how to get in with Coach Ackerman, how to rise up in the ranks and how to earn respect from the underclassmen.”īrady said she implemented the leadership of Burns and Kruger into her own model and worked well with other seniors Lexy Berg, Taylor Johnson and Brooke Snyder. “They were vocal and they always played hard,” Brady said. I try to do that.”īrady said she was influenced by the leadership of Taylor Burns and Kaitlyn Kruger, who were the Oaks Christian senior leaders in her freshman year. “I’ve watched him from his first Super Bowl to this year.
“I saw how he handles situations on the field and tried to learn from that,” Brady said. “When I was younger, people said I was the quarterback on the field,” Brady said.īrady said she never asked her famous uncles for advice, but rather watched from afar, particularly Tom during his impressive run of Super Bowls. Her mother Maureen was a blue-chip softball pitcher at Hillsdale High School who enjoyed a stellar career at then top-ranked Fresno State.

Her other uncle is two-time World Series champion Kevin Youkilis, the Greek God of Walks. Her uncle is six-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady, who just led the Patriots to the 2019 Super Bowl at age 41. With a family tree rooted in athleticism, some of that leadership came naturally. “I wanted to show what a leader looks like when I am gone.”īrady said her point of emphasis for her senior season was honing her leadership skills. “My mentality this year was to make the best of it and do whatever I can to help my team in any situation,” Brady said.
It seemed like a proper curtain call for Brady, the 2019 Daily News Softball Player of the Year. The power, the leadership, the tenacity – Brady was not going to be denied.īrady helped Oaks Christian rise to the top in the rough-and-tumble Marmonte League, then keyed Oaks Christian with two homers in a first-round victory over Camarillo in the cutthroat CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoffs.
